A Charitable, Non-Profit Seniors Residential Community located in Cambridge, Ontario. MMMC is retained to prepare a Campus Master Plan and Preliminary Design for the redevelopment of a new 114 resident long-term care facility to new MOHLTC design standards. The potential for an additional 28 residents is also being considered. The new long-term care facility will be built in two phases to avoid the downsizing of services to residents during construction which expected to begin in 2019. The project is currently awaiting Ministry approval and financing.
Elgin County’s redeveloped Terrace Lodge will be constructed on the same site as the existing home, allowing the current residents to remain on-site during construction. The 100-bed home will be clad in brick and stone with special wood columns and trusses accentuating the ceiling in the combined Great Room/Chapel. A single storey design allows each resident a view of green space. The design includes 20 private rooms, 40 semi-private and 40 standard along with a 25-bed Secure Care Unit. Estimated completion is Spring 2020.
A new 4 storey, 122 unit Retirement Residence in Orangeville, ON, complementing the existing facility of similar size. Phase II will include 24 studio units, 65-one bedroom apartments, and 33-two bedroom apartments along with comfortable dining and entertainment spaces. The new building will be connected to the existing structure with a generous first story link and will be fully accessible. Estimated completion is late 2019.
Chartwell is currently operating a Retirement and LTC Home on the fully occupied and extremely tight site in Ajax, Ontario. Phased construction of the new 192-Bed LTC Home will provide for a smooth transition of operations from the existing facilities to the new building. The existing 100 bed LTC will remain fully operational throughout the construction of the new LTC Home. The scope of work includes construction of a new three-storey building with partial basement and site improvements including various landscaped courtyards.
Collaborating with Centurion Property Associates, Labreche Patterson & Associates Planning and Development, and Reid’s Heritage Construction, MMMC Architects lead the architectural design, site planning and development team to exceed the owner’s target unit counts for this infill residential property. Occupying a vacant grassy area on the mature 16 acre Kingswood Estates property, the new 5 storey, 80 unit residence, is the ninth and final multi-unit mid-rise building on the property. Smartly located near Homer Watson and Blockline Road, with linkages to the Laurentian Trail, and walkable neighbourhood amenities, the warm and welcoming campus is home to this contemporary residence. One and two- bedrooms suites are offered with amenities including large balconies and at-grade patios, a shared outdoor courtyard, party room with full kitchen, fitness facilities, bicycle parking, and resident storage lockers. Estimated opening is August 2018.
