Point Pelee National Park – Northwest Beach Improvement Project

  • Location: Lake Erie near Leamington, ON

Established in 1918, Point Pelee was the first national park in Canada to be established for conservation as the area is home to many endangered species.

The NW Beach provides some of the park’s best opportunities for beach activities within the National Park The focus of this project is to re-vitalize the infrastructure and redesign the area to reduce its ecological impact, reduce maintenance costs and attract greater visitor interest. Accessibility is to be integrated within all aspects of the project, including beach access.

Project Scope includes a new beach pavilion and shade structures; two comfort stations including washrooms, change rooms, showers and shaded resting areas; redevelopment of parking lot; pathways and natural playground; bicycle trails.
