The Acclaim Health’s “Patty’s Place” is set to transform dementia care in Halton Region.

This project converted a large industrial building into a multi-faceted hub that includes a seniors’ day program, caregiver support areas, short stay respite beds, a year-round recreation garden and administrative space.

The aim of the design is to create a comfortable space where day program “members” and their caregivers can feel safe, confident and energized. Abundant daylight, landscaping and familiar natural textures are incorporated throughout the building. The site is reconfigured to allow easy access, weather protected entries and secure outdoor spaces.

The essential design elements were developed through an extensive co-design process with Acclaim Health staff and community members.
