MMMC Architects was pleased to be the architectural firm for the Ministry’s B & C Bed Pilot Project, Blue Water Rest Home. This 65 bed rural home was chosen to be a hub of community-based services.

The redesigned Blue Water Rest Home includes a new main kitchen, preparing meals for twinned dining rooms and serveries located between a new 32 bed and a renovated 33 bed RHA. A new designated entry, accessed from the existing main lobby, provides the long-term care home with a unique identity within the overall building. Existing spaces, left vacant when the residents relocated, are being renovated for assisted living units and a child daycare facility. A central courtyard provides pleasant outdoor space protected from the persistent shore winds that envelope the site.
