Designed to respond to the rugged beauty of the Georgian Peninsula, the choice of natural building materials – wood – garnered this new school two awards: WoodWORKS! “Juror’s Choice Award” and the “Sansin” Wood Design Award.
Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation
Craig Newsome was honoured with this award as a culmination of his passion for adapting old buildings to new uses and his conservation efforts of historic structures, particularly within the City of Brantford.

Anselma House Women’s Shelter – City of Kitchener Urban Design Award
This new 45-bed shelter for women and children is the largest shelter in Ontario. The site selected for the new shelter is prominent and visible, rather than being hidden from public eye as was done in the past. This approach ensures visibility of the issues and promotes Anselma’s services.

Heritage House Affordable Housing & Lucy Marco Place Student Residence
Winner of a Province of Ontario Heritage Award for the successful conversion of the 1910 Georgian style YMCA into 24 low income apartments.
Laurier Brantford – Andrew Carnegie Library Building
Winner of a City of Brantford Heritage Award for the adaptive reuse of the former Andrew Carnegie Library. The old library building took on new life when it was renovated for use by the Brantford Campus of Wilfrid Laurier University.
Emily C. General Elementary School, Ohsweken
Six Nations of the Grand received the 1997 CEFPI Award of Distinction for successfully capturing the spirit of the native community in the learning environment. Sustainable design played an important role in this award winning school.
Market Street Parkade, Brantford
This parkade is honoured with the North American Award of Excellence in Parking and Program Innovation: for parking facilities over 500 spaces, by the American Institutional and Municipal Parking Congress.
