Craig Newsome is Founder and Principal Architect of MMMC Architects and has led the firm since 1991, shaping its culture, values, and long-term direction for more than three decades. He is known for building and inspiring a strong team culture rooted in mentorship, collaboration, work-life balance, innovation, and design excellence.
With four decades of architectural experience, Craig has provided design leadership across seniors’ living, long-term care, education, healthcare, heritage, and community projects, helping deliver large, complex and award-winning work while advancing innovation within the profession. He holds the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals designation and is recognized for his expertise and interest in heritage architecture and the adaptive reuse of older buildings.
Craig has also led MMMC’s innovation through his interest in new technologies, evolving best practices, and research-informed approaches to design and project delivery. He has championed the advancement of women into MMMC’s leadership roles, helped build a diverse and inclusive team, and fostered a culture of mentorship.
