Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre

CS&P Architects, in association with MMMC Architects, collaborated with the City of Brantford on the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre redevelopment. The project includes 4 energy efficient NHL-sized ice pads, 1,000 seat arena with running track, 25 metre lap pool, therapy pool, gymnasium, dry land training and fitness area, improved parking.

The project won a Wood Design Award for featuring Ontario’s first use of cross-laminate timber (CLT) roof deck system above the pool. In conjunction with the CLT, glulam beams from the original hockey rink that young Wayne Gretzky played on were re-purposed and used above the new 25-metre pool.
